Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe History

1959 Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe was formed
1968? Frank Sousa - Lake Tahoe Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe - Cal-Nev-Ha District Governer
1970? Dick Thomas aka "Smokey" Started a Fire Wise project that assisted in local to put their house numbers on the house so the Fire Department can better tell which house needed attention. Dick was also responsible for the Fire Fest event and the "don't do it in the duff" program. In addition to other promotions, he got Raleys to support "duff" by printing it on their paper bags which was huge at the time.  He also got the club to purchase a mechanical fire hydrant that moved around and talked to people through a remote mike.  He not only took that to all Kiwanis functions but to other events as well.
